资源简介:
The incidence rate of infectious endocarditis (inflammation of the cardiac valve caused by bacteria) is estimated to be increasing to a level of 10 pr 100.000 people pr year. Despite of improvements in the treatment of infectious endocarditis, the mortality rate remains high. Because of the high mortality rate the condition is considered to be one of the most serious conditions in the Western world. It is not clear if gender can be a predictor of the mortality rate. The purpose of this study is to test for statistical significance between gender and mortality rate while the patients are at the hospital and six months later. The study examines the following themes: - Information on diagnosis. - Complications. - Comorbidity (e.g. cancer, HIV, kidney diseases etc.) - Information regarding cardiac surgery. - Gender and age.
