VPRS 6277 Rates Receipt Cash Book

These volumes record date, receipt book number, rate and meter numbers, rate book folio number, name, rates (current and arrears), sales of water by measure (current and arrears), meter rents, interest, miscellaneous charges, ledger folio number, total amount, payments to bank, and amount carried to General Cash Book (see VPRS 6272).The overlap in date ranges in volumes 1 to 5 is due to details being listed by receipt book number under the relevant dates; the last page of each of these volumes does not mean that the entry appearing was the last receipt issued on that day, hence the overlap. The gap in dates between volumes 6 and 7 is most probably due to Christmas holidays at the end of 1952; it is difficult to tell exactly as the volumes stop recording receipt book number in March 1952. (This is due to the destruction of receipts: see vol. 6 page 145).From this time onwards the recorded details are rather erratic; from around 3/2/1956 details are recorded purely by assessment number, thus it is not possible to give an exact final date for volume 7. Also from this time (1956 - 1959), details relate only to vacant land special charges - no names given.
