The data is sourced from the ILOSTAT statistical database of the International Labour Organization (ILO), a leading global source of labor statistics compiled by harmonizing data from national labour force surveys, household income surveys, establishment surveys, administrative records, and other relevant sources. The dataset has been filtered to retain only data from European countries, and was acquired via the ILOSTAT REST API. Its structure includes columns such as country code, country name, data source, indicator code, indicator name, gender category, economic activity and marital status category, observation year, observed value, observation status flag, and associated notes. The data is provided at an annual frequency and includes data quality annotations; for example, when multiple data sources exist for the same country and year, the optimal source selected by the ILO is used. This dataset was republished and repackaged by Electric Sheep Europe, aiming to provide a unified, machine learning-ready data layer for Europe.
