The present study aimed to identify microbial metabolites with the potential to shape a synthetic community (SynCom) of the epiphytic Arabidopsis thaliana leaf microbiome. The hypothesis was that metabolites with upregulated or activated production in co-cultures are potential key metabolites in the community. Therefore, metabolic profiles of single SynCom members were compared to the whole SynCom co-cultures in a UHPLC-MS/MS non-targeted metabolomics approach.
