Between February 2013 and November 2015 a nosocomial outbreak due to multidrug resistant hvKP occurred in the neurosurgical ICU in Moscow, Russia. K. pneumoniae isolate MAR14-456 representing this outbreak was isolated in February 2014 from postoperative wound in a patient who later developed multiple abscesses, fatal sepsis and septic shock despite multiple surgical interventions and combination therapy with high-dose meropenem, amikacin and tigecycline.
