In order to test our expectations about cable news media and its framing of extreme wealth, we conducted a content analysis of transcripts from the two most widely viewed cable news networks: FOX News and CNN, from 2010-2020. Transcripts were accessed through NewsBank, an online database of complete news program transcripts. To identify relevant news transcripts, we used the search term “billionaire” to restrict the sample frame.
