This study examines the host-directed antimicrobial effects of methyl jasmonate (MeJA) during Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection. Although MeJA does not directly inhibit bacterial growth, it enhances host defense by activating autophagy, promoting phagosomal maturation, and modulating inflammatory responses in macrophages and in vivo. These findings highlight the potential of plant-derived compounds as host-directed therapeutic strategies against tuberculosis.
