The LexA transcriptional repressor, together with the RecA recombinase, regulates the bacterial SOS response to DNA damage, leading to antibiotic resistance and expression of virulence factors. X-ray diffraction data presented here have been collected on protein crystals of the C-terminal autoproteolytic domain of Pseudomonas aeruginosa LexA (G91D inactive mutant) and led to solve its molecular structure. Together with Cryo-EM structures of Pseudomonas aeruginosa RecA and RecA-LexA complex and biophysical characterization of their interaction, these data provided fine structural and mechanistic insights on the SOS activation complex of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
