# Healthcare Price Transparency in Coverage — Full Dataset Payer-negotiated commercial medical rates from the federal Transparency in Coverage (TiC) Machine-Readable Files (MRFs), parsed and normalized by Payerset into a clean, query-ready model in Snowflake. Under the Transparency in Coverage rule, U.S. health plans must publish the negotiated in-network rates they pay providers. In raw form these are enormous, deeply nested JSON documents — hundreds of gigabytes to terabytes per payer, with structure that varies plan to plan — effectively unusable without a dedicated engineering pipeline. Payerset solves that: each cycle we ingest and parse the raw MRFs (~15 trillion records), standardize and resolve them, and deliver the result as analytics-ready tables you can query immediately. ## What's included - **In-network negotiated rates:** across commercial payers, national and regional - **Organizational (Type 2) NPIs:** facility and provider-organization identifiers - **Complete billing-code coverage:** CPT, HCPCS, MS-DRG, and revenue codes (RC), plus *all* nonstandard and payer-proprietary codes published in the files, not just the standard code sets - **Plan mappings:** rates tied to the specific plans they apply to - **Rate detail:** negotiated rate, negotiation/rate type, billing class, and service-code modifiers ## Structure The dataset is organized per payer with a consistent two-table model: - **RATES** — one row per negotiated rate, with billing code, plan, and rate detail - **PROVIDERS** — organizational NPI records For each payer, join RATES to PROVIDERS on npi_rate_key and plan_id. Both tables are **clustered by NPI and billing code**, so filtered lookups — a given procedure at a given facility — prune efficiently and return fast, with no partitioning to manage on your end.
