By statistically calculating the proportions of total online players and total online play durations of various online game categories within a single day and conducting day-over-day analysis, we can obtain heat trend analyses for different types of online games. Game categories with rising heat will become key development projects in the online game industry in the near future, with more capital and human resources allocated to them; for game categories with declining heat, capital and human resource allocations will be appropriately reduced. This data analysis provides critical references for the development direction of the online game industry. The heat change index M is defined as M=(D1/D2)×(T1/T2), where D1 refers to the proportion of total online players of a specific type of online game on the current day, D2 refers to the proportion of total online players of the same type of online game on the previous day, T1 refers to the proportion of total online play durations of the same type of online game on the current day, and T2 refers to the proportion of total online play durations of the same type of online game on the previous day. Data analysis of the calculated heat change index M follows the following criteria: When 0 < M < 0.9, the heat change status is "DEC", indicating that the heat of this type of online game is declining; when 0.9 ≤ M ≤ 1.1, the heat change status is "NC", indicating that the heat of this type of online game has no significant change; when M > 1.1, the heat change status is "RISE", indicating that the heat of this type of online game is rising.
