This dataset was used to study the cyclical changes in rainfall before and after the “Grain for Green” project in the northern Loess Plateau of China, and the coupling relationship between sediment yield in the watershed on annual rainfall and vegetation coverage over the past 20 years.
The watershed selected for the study is located in the Yulin area of Shaanxi Province, China, close to the Mao Wusu Desert, with soils containing large amounts of coarse sand particles, and annual rainfall is much lower than that of the central Loess Plateau, where regional droughts and heavy rainfall events are frequent. The study obtained the sediment yield under individual rainfall conditions by excavating sediment profiles at the outlet check dam of the watershed, combined with satellite remote sensing data.
