camels, penguins, goats, tortoises and toads (ZooMix ID)

The ZooMixID dataset contains 839 cropped images featuring 175 individual animals of five distinct taxonomic groups: camels, penguins, goats, tortoises and toads. Each image is annotated with the corresponding identity of the shown animal. The images were extracted from videos filmed over several weeks at multiple locations. Camels, penguins, goats and some tortoises were filmed at the Naturzoo Rheine, Germany in 2023. The majority of the tortoises were filmed at the 'Centre de Reproducció de Tortugues de l'Albera' in Garriguella, Spain. The toads represent a subset of a larger dataset filmed during the spring seasons of 2022 and 2023 in a conservation effort in southern Lower Saxony, Germany that led to the rescue of more than 400 toads at a local lake (Fruhner et al. 2024; https://doi.org/10.1594/PANGAEA.967135).
