Bacteriophage T5 is a virulent phage that infects Escherichia coli and do so by delivering its genome in two steps. It has been shown that during the first step, the host genome is rapidly degraded. This study aims at identifying the gene(s) encoding for DNases responsible for the E. coli chromosomal degradation.
