To study the gut microbiome, and change in exposure to toxic chemicals (IAEC-962/132)

The toxic chemicals which were used in this work were organophosphorus and organocarbamate pesticides. Wistar female rats were exposed to organophosphorus pesticide (chlorpyrifos) and organocarbamate pesticide (carbaryl) in separate sets of experiments for a period of 7 days. The dosage of oral exposure for chlorpyrifos was 150 mg/kg body weight in 200 ml of drinking water/day. The dosage of oral exposure for carbaryl was 500 mg/kg body weight in 200 ml of drinking water/day. These experiments were compared with the control Wistar rat which was given normal drinking water without any pesticide exposure.
