Gut microbiome composition across a baboon hybrid zone

Raw 16S rRNA sequencing reads collected from fecal samples from 191 baboons in 14 populations during June - July 2008. The goals of this study were to test the relative contributions of host environments, genetics, and geographic distance in shaping gut microbiome composition across geographically isolated populations of wild baboons spanning a natural baboon hybrid zone. Sampling across a hybrid zone allowed us to additionally test whether phylosymbiosis is detectable in admixed, closely related primates.
