Applying metagenomics for habitat connectivity assessment in coastal Gulf of Maine ecosystems

The purpose of this project is to determine whether genetic material and soundscape recordings, separately and combined, are able to serve as sentinel indicators of the acoustic propagation environment. Either method of data collection was evaluated on the ability to discriminate between different coastal marine habitats, which is used to determine which monitoring technique serves as a better indicator of organims that impact the sound propagation environment.
