Mycobacterium ulcerans strain:150991 Genome sequencing and assembly

The goal of this study is to assemble previously unpublished plasmids, of which contain the components for the production of the cytotoxin mycolactone. In doing so, we hope this information helps other studies focused on mycolactone-producing mycobacteria. The larger scope of our project is to investigate the ecology of this bacteria in the environment, and sequencing and assembling the plasmids of this group of bacteria can provide insight to their pathogenicity within their habitat. The human disease Buruli Ulcer is caused by this bacteria, and our investigations hope to provide data to inform professionals working closely with this disease.
