Dataset for "Do Students Learn Better Together? Teaching Design Patterns and the OSI Model with the Jigsaw Method

This dataset accompanies the article “Do Students Learn Better Together? Teaching Design Patterns and the OSI Model with the Jigsaw Method”. It contains anonymized data collected from two undergraduate cohorts (2025) where the Jigsaw method (Aronson) was applied to the teaching of software design patterns and the OSI model in computer networks. The repository includes: Raw assessment data: individual Socrative quiz scores (ISC), group mental map scores (GMMS), and self/peer evaluation scores (SPES). Composite metrics: calculated values of the Collaborative Learning Index (CLI). Final grade data (FG) for the first instructional unit in each course. Survey responses capturing student perceptions of coordination, fairness, engagement, and perceived learning. Supporting materials: questionnaires, rubrics, and analysis scripts in R used for statistical testing (Shapiro–Wilk, Spearman, Wilcoxon). All data are fully anonymized and provided in CSV/Excel format with accompanying documentation. The dataset enables replication of statistical analyses and supports further research on cooperative learning, collaborative engagement, and engineering education.
