Geomorphic and sedimentary evidence indicates that the Changbaishan-Tianchi Volcano experienced a catastrophic outburst flood, as observed along the Erdaobai River downstream from the outlet of Tianchi. Reconstructions of megaflood helped to infer the chronology and dynamics of dam outburst mechanism, but also contributed to the complex spatiotemporal patterns of paleohydrologic events.
