Hydrangea serrata is a dihydroisocoumarin (DH) producing plant. Since AlCl3 caused stress defense reaction in other plants like Hydrangea macrophylla, the stress reaction of H. serrata was in focus of this study. Concerning genes related to secondary metabolism and in order to find information towards the elucidation of DH biosynthesis a transcriptome analysis was made. The provided data consist of Illumina NextSeq2000 generated short paired-end reads belonging to leaf- and root samples under AlCl3 treatment and leaf- and root control samples.
