Dataset: Questionnaire-based survey of coffee consumption in Japan

The data were generated from a survey on coffee consumption in Japan, and were collected from three regions: Kyoto Prefecture, Osaka Prefecture, and Tokyo. The data includes variables that represent the scale of coffee consumption, such as purchase frequency, quantity, and expenditure. Additionally, it contains variables related to eating habits, which are considered determinants of coffee consumption. Furthermore, different forms of coffee purchases, including beans, powder, and liquid, are accounted for, and respondents reported their consumption for each category. The available data files are three: (i) a codebook that maps the variables’ names and values to the questionnaire’s questions and answers; (ii) raw data of the collected survey translated into English; and (iii) a grand total table (GT table) for each questionnaire item. The simple aggregate results of this survey are immediately available in the GT table.
