The dataset includes the plant survey data of 332 quadrats in 11 mountains across the main climate zones of China, including tropical, subtropical, and temperate. a total of 2016 plant species were compiled and grouped into three life forms, including trees, shrubs, and herbs. A molecular phylogeny was constructed using universal DNA barcodes including rbcL, matK, and ITS/ITS2. For each quadrat, species richness and phylogenetic diversity were calculated
