Each of the 68 Nobel Laureates was matched with one of 68 comparison group members using three criteria: 1) common field of research (“biomedicine” as tagged by Web of Science); 2) year of first publication (range 1922-1992 for Laureates; 1921-1994 for non-Laureates); and 3) h-index (range 7-153 for the Laureates; 17-160 for non-Laureates; average 72 in both).
