Metagenomic study of microbial communities from a variety environments of the Jan Mayen hydrothermal vent fields

Microbial communities were studied from a variety of environments at the Jan Mayen hydrothermal vent fields (71N 6W). Next to the three previously studied iron-containing mats (PRJEB11309), four iron mounds, two sediment, one basalt and two additional seawater samples were investigated. Therefore, besides the hydraulic suction device that was used for sampling the iron-containing microbial mats and seawater, other sampling methods were applied, such as a "shovel" box (IM, Bas) and push-core sampling (Sed).
