Coupon samplers containing sterile mineral grains were deployed in a proglacial meltwater stream for one year. DNA was extracted from colonized mineral grains and proglacial sediments, and 16S rRNA genes were amplified using universal V4 region primers 515F and 806R. Amplicons were assessed for evidence of mineralogical influence on community composition.
