Geochemical analysis of heavy metals in three Swedish river ecosystems receiving wastewater effluents

This dataset provides comprehensive geochemical data from three Swedish freshwater river systems impacted by recently upgraded Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTPs). Collected under the DANUBIUS-IP project (Horizon Europe, 101079778), the data supports research on the efficacy of WWTP upgrades in varied river ecosystems. Surface sediment samples were collected in May and October 2024 by the Department of Wildlife, Fish & Environmental Studies, SLU. Analyses were performed in triplicates at the NIRD GeoEcoMar laboratory for heavy metals (Ni, Cu, Zn, Pb, Cr, Co, Cd, As, and Hg) via ICP-MS.
