Klebsiella variicola Raw sequence reads

Klebsiella variicola is an emerging Gram-negative pathogen that can lead to severe opportunistic infections in clinical settings. Initially identified as a distinct species with clinical and plant-associated isolates, K. variicola has been found in diverse environments, including hospitals, plants, and less frequently in wild and farm animal infections. To detect potential transmission events in a way that would permit early remedial action from our local Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) team, we established a simplified prospective genomic surveillance program in our laboratory using Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) sequencing. This data represents K. variicola genomes collected from Wellington Regional Hospital in 2023.
