We propose 55 ks of XMM-Newton exposure for an Eddington-limited dust-obscuredgalaxy which may be at a key phase closest to the peak of both the black-holeand galaxy growth in the coevolution framework for supermassive black holes andgalaxies. This source was previously targeted with Chandra for 3 ks and showsheavy obscuration reaching the Compton-thick level yet has an unexpectedly highcount rate in the hard X-ray band. Previous observations of similar sources havebeen highly limited by the collected counts and thus our proposed targetprovides an unprecedentedly economical opportunity to probe detailed X-rayspectral features. The proposed observation will also constrain the precisecolumn density of our source and how ^ated its X-ray luminosity is compared to expectations. [truncated! Please see actual data for full text]
