Vineyard's Humidity Service

The Vineyard’s Humidity Service provides information on the soil/crop humidity status of vineyards for a user-selected period. One EO product is delivered through this service: Soil/Crop Humidity of the vineyards. The EO index used to provide the Soil/Crop Humidity information is the Disease Water Stress Index (DSWI), which acts as an indicator of soil and crop moisture variability and, therefore, as a potential indicator of water stress conditions. This EO service uses data from optical sensors and is only provided at High Resolution (HR), as the calculation of the DSWI requires the Short Wave Infrared (SWIR) band, which is not available in the Very High Resolution (VHR) sensor used within the scope of the LEONSEGS project. The soil/crop humidity product can be generated using either Sentinel-2 or Landsat 8/9 data, with the system automatically selecting the best available option. This service is part of the set of Earth Observation (EO) services developed in order to illustrate, test, validate and demonstrate the LEONSEGS capabilities. The defined use cases are implemented and tested in two Areas of Interest (AoIs), located in Spain and Austria. This service is only provided for the Spanish use case, focused on vineyard monitoring. This record provides examples of the outputs produced by the LEONSEGS system in response to a user requesting the Vineyard’s Humidity Status service. Outputs:• The Disease Water Stress Index (DSWI), used to provide the Water and Moisture Content of the Vineyards product. For each EO index product, the following files are provided: - GeoTIFF raster containing the original index values - Categorized GeoTIFF raster - RGB visualization GeoTIFF - PNG legend associated with the RGB visualization - Raster footprint geometry (.wkt) - ISO 19115/19139 metadata (.xml) - STAC metadata (.geojson) The categorized values have been specifically adjusted for vineyard crops according to crop phenology; therefore, these values are not applicable to other crop types. For a given EO product, multiple examples may be available, representing the full range of satellite missions: Landsat 8, Landsat 9, Sentinel-2A, Sentinel-2B, and Sentinel-2C.
