Grain size of friction stir welded AA6061 sheets (100 x 75 x 3 mm)

In this version, we share the experimental data of friction stir welded aluminum sheets and their quality evaluation by determining the grain size at the nugget zone. Following are the details of the experiment:

(1) Base material: Aluminum alloy, AA6061. Sheet dimension: 100 x 75 x 3 mm
(2) Welding is performed on the as-received sheets
(3) Welding machine: Vertical Milling Machine (BFW, VF 3.5)
(4) Welding parameters: Tool rotational speed, Welding speed, and Tool tilt angle
(5) Weld characterization: (a) Specimen cut from weld: 25 mm × 10 mm, (b) Polishing, (c) Microscopic imaging, and (d) Line intercept method to calculate grain size
