<p> </p> <p><strong>Title:</strong> Seismic imaging with Thumper for earthquake faults near Marianna, AR (NEES-2014-0878)</p> <p><br /> <strong>Year Of Curation: </strong>2014</p> <p><br /> <strong>Description: </strong>Using Thumper, the minivibe from NEES at UT-Austin, we collected 10 km of new high-resolution P-wave seismic reflection data across distinct lineaments marked by large sand blows near Marianna, Arkansas.  The goal is to test for the presence of Holocene faulting below the sand-blow lineament 80 km south of the southern end of the New Madrid seismic zone. Finishing the above acquisition a little ahead of schedule we then collected a 1-km P-wave vibroseis profile across the Marianna escarpment which is suspected to overlie an active fault. We imaged the subsurface geology in the 30- to 1000-meter depth range using 5-m geophone and 10-m source intervals.  The profiles were collected primarily along rural farm roads in Arkansas.
