Shotgun metagenomics of human gut microbiota in China high longevity area

The human gut microbiota in long-living people has been characterized, however, its metabolic potential is still largely unknown in this group. In this study, the gut microbiota was assessed in 95 Chinese participants by metagenomic sequencing of stool samples. Participants were categorized into four groups, unhealthy long-living (n=9), healthy long-living (n=28), healthy elderly (n=31) and healthy young (n=27). Gut microbiota composition and function were compared among these four groups.
