资源简介:
Osmolytes, e.g. choline and glycine betaine (GBT), enable marine organisms to counteract osmotic stress and hence cope better with the stressful conditions in oceanic ecosystems. Further, nitrogenous (N-) osmolytes also constitute an important nutrient source for many marine microbes. We studied uptake of N-osmolytes by the prokaryotic community present at the Western Channel Observatory Station L4, off Plymouth, UK. Our aim was to identify the key driver among the prokaryotic community responsible for choline and GBT uptake using multivariate statistical analysis. The data made available here comprises 16S rRNA gene amplicon sequencing reads of the bacterial and archaeal community present at Station L4 on dates sampled for uptake of choline and GBT between spring 2015 and spring 2017.
