VPRS 17988 Male Trainee Case History Files

This series consists of the official green institutional files that were created for each male "trainee" at the time of their admission to custodial care and followed them betwen the reception and training centres they resided within, including Turana Youth Training Centre (VA 971), Malmsbury Youth Training Centre (VA 3960) and Langi Kal Kal Youth Training Centre (VA 5104).This filing system was separate to the localised institutional trainee case history files, for example Langi Kal Kal VPRS 17957 Intake Assessment and Treatment Files; and Malmsbury VPRS 17984 Trainee Case History Files.The files may include admission forms, transfer reports, sentencing reports, psychiatric and psychological reports, property and leave details. Some files contain little information.It was common for the trainees to move between institutions. Therefore, the files comprise documentation regarding the trainees residency at multiple institutions.
