Hydropsychidae, or caddisflies, are ecosystem engineers that build retreats for filter-feeding and shelter. These structures regulate whole-stream metabolism by creating zones of interstitial flow stagnation that facilitate biofilm formation. Data deposited in this repository contain 16S rRNA genes and metagenomes of caddisflies influenced environments. These include silk nets, retreats, whole larval populations, and background samples (un-influenced rock substrata, channel water, sediments).
