Samples from features at sites 41CP28, 41CP88, and 41CP414 in Camp County, northeastern Texas, were examined for macrofloral remains. Individual charcoal and botanic samples were recovered from various levels within shovel tests and units at these sites and also submitted for identification. A single ceramic sherd from 41CP88 was analyzed for pollen, starch, phytoliths, and organic residues, the latter using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). These sites represent Caddo occupations of the area. Site 41CP28 is believed to reflect the Middle Caddo (ca A.D. 1200-1400), while ceramic sherds at 41CP88 suggest a Titus phase affiliation (ca. A.D. 1450-1550/1600). An Archaic Gary dart point also was recovered at 41CP88. Some of the ceramics at 41CP414 might also represent pre-Caddo populations. Macrofloral, pollen, starch, phytolith, and organic residue results will be used to provide subsistence information concerning plant resources used by the various prehistoric inhabitants of these sites.
