Vital rates were constructed from data tables in Klomp, H. 1966. The dynamics of a field population of the pine looper, Bupalus piniarius L. (Lep., Geom.). Advances in Ecological Research 3:207-305. The original data came from the northwestern part of the National Park De Hoge Veluwe, near Otterlo, Gelderland Province, The Netherlands. The assumption was that egg sex ratio was 1:1, and mortality during development accounts for the adult sex ratio. Sex ratio mortality was evenly distributed among larval classes. Larval classes were restricted to transitions among instars for which data were reported.
