A novel cyanophage was isolated from East Lake, Wuhan (October 2023) using a double-layer agar plaque assay in BG 11 medium, and it was named as cyanophage PP-DH22 after its two hosts, Plectonema boryanum IU594 and Phormidium foveozarum IU427.
