Lab2- Grassland dataset 2

This lab took place in the grassland at York University near the Aviva Centre to collect data on a target plant. In groups of two, one transect tape was placed along a path of goldenrod near the pond in the grassland from 0-300 inches. Once the first transect was placed the first partner walked along the transect tape and reported the distance of the first 50 goldenrods that were spotted and the second partner recorded all the findings. The distance was measured from the stem of the goldenrod to where it was spotted on the transect tape in inches. Then the height of the planst were recorded with a second transect, by measuring the goldenrod from the stem to the highest point of the plant. Next the number of leaves were recorded by only counting the leaves that were green and longer then 3 inches. Then the number of flowers were recorded by counting the bunching’s on the goldenrod as one flower. Lastly, the crowdedness was recorded by observing how many other goldenrods and other plants were surrounding the target plant. The crowdedness was measured by giving a number from 0-3, 0 being no plants and 3 being many.
