资源简介:
The origin of the slaughter house register was the Slaughtering and Diseased Animals and Meat Act, 1902 (Act no 36, 1902) The Act imposed certain responsibilities on local authorities in regard of the regulation of slaughterhouses. The Council was required to keep a register of the name and address of every person using or about to use or build premises as a slaughter house, and to record particulars of the slaughterhouse itself. The Inspector determined whether the house met complied with standards prescribed by the Act, and if so could issue a licence upon the receipt of the fee. The register was to be kept current by removing the names of businesses no longer operating in the industry, and premises which had ceased to be used for this purpose. The Register was to be made available to the Board of Health who were entitled to examine it, and were entitled to receive any necessary extracts from it. Officers of the Council also required access to the register to enable the inspection of the slaughterhouses, utensils and appliances used there, the carcasses, blood, offal and garbage in order to ensure that the slaughterhouse continued to meet industry standards in accordance with the Act and regulations made under it. The officers entered into the register comments regarding each inspection. This series consists of forms No. 97. These include the following information – the dates of application, preliminary inspection before registration and the date of registration, the name and address of the person or firm responsible for the business. These details are recorded about the premises – situation, area of land, number of stock slaughtered per week, nature and extent of the water supply; condition of the premises (cleanliness, lighting, draining and ventilation); method/s of waste disposal; number of employees; and number of vehicles used. The form concludes with the date and number of licence and the date of cancellation. Opposite this registration information is the record of inspections including the date and any remarks. This series contains registrations and inspections of cattle slaughtering premises in the Local Government area of Waugoola Shire including the localities of Cowra, Canowindra, Coota Creek, Goologong and Woodstock.Date range of the bound volume runs from 01/07/1907 to 01/07/1915 with two loose applications for registration for the year 1922 inside the back cover.
