Raw data on PCS-ED coupling coordination and obstacle degree in China

The synergistic relationship between public cultural services (PCSs) and economic development (ED) is a core topic of academic research and is key to sustainable development worldwide. In this study, we take PCSs and ED as independent systems and explore how to achieve both high-quality coordination and coordinated development. We construct a PCS–ED evaluation index system and use the coupling coordination degree model, kernel density estimation, spatial Markov chain and obstacle degree model to analyze their coordinated development among 31 provinces in China from 2014 to 2023. In addition, we identify the main obstacles to the coordinated development of PCSs and EDs, including deficiencies in library exhibitions and lectures and the impact of government revenue.
