Emerging multi-recombinant enterovirus A71 subgenogroup C1 genetic variant 2015 (C1v2015) associated with a burden of neurological manifestations in European countries. Emergence and spread EV-A71 v2015

An upsurge of neurological manifestations in France in 2016 was associated with an emerging lineage of enterovirus A71 subgenogroup C1 (C1v2015). C1v2015 emerged in the early 2000s, has a multi-recombinant origin, and is already widespread. We need to determine whether C1v2015 could be associated with long-term risk of childhood disease.
