资源简介:

This EXCEL dataset contains data on royal gifts of trees, timber and fish in 13th-century England, specifically the reigns of King John, King Henry III, and King Edward 1. In 13th-century England, the king gave gifts of deer, trees, timber, fish and/or wine to individuals and organizations. These could be used for subsistence or awarded as a sign of status and power. Interested in the way in which the 13th-century English kings used these natural resources for patronage, Dr. Robin Oggins combed through a variety of medieval public records and tabulated gifts and orders of these resources, including recipients, the places from which gifts and orders came, and specific types of gifts, thereby amassing large datasets that give a complex and hopefully somewhat representative picture of historical patterns in these gifts and orders. He hoped to share these data with other historians in an archive, whence the archive created here.
