This dataset is designed for measuring the total hardness of domestic tap water in enterprises. Samples are collected from tap water sampling points in various enterprises, and the total hardness is tested via the disodium ethylenediaminetetraacetate (EDTA) titration method specified in the sensory properties and physical indicators section for total hardness determination of domestic drinking water, to verify compliance with national standards. This provides technical support for safeguarding the occupational health of enterprise employees and enabling targeted supervision by health regulatory authorities. For domestic drinking water samples collected from tap water sampling points in enterprises across Jiashan, the EDTA titration method stipulated in GB/T 5750.4-2023.7.1 for total hardness detection in sensory properties and physical indicators of domestic drinking water is employed. The calculation steps are as follows: first, record the concentration C (mol/L) of the EDTA standard solution, the volume V1 (mL) of EDTA consumed during sample testing, and the volume V0 (mL) of EDTA standard solution consumed in the blank test. Calculate the difference (V1 - V0), multiply it by the molar mass of calcium carbonate (100.09 g/mol), divide by the collected sample volume V (mL), multiply by the sample dilution factor f, and convert the final result to calcium carbonate equivalents to obtain the total hardness value of the domestic drinking water. The calculation formula is: ρ(CaCO₃) = [C × (V1 - V0) × 100.09 × 1000 × f] / V. Based on the sanitary assessment standard for domestic drinking water GB 5749-2022, the allowable limit for total hardness in domestic drinking water is 450 mg/L. If the measured total hardness exceeds 450 mg/L (>450 mg/L), the domestic drinking water is deemed unqualified.
