Mode of Akkermansia muciniphila interaction with probiotics and the mechanism by which their consortia ameliorate DSS-induced colitis in mice

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a global disease with an increasing incidence in developing countries, but treatment strategies are heterogeneous and side effects are a cause for concern, requiring further development and refinement of appropriate therapies. In this study, we identified forms of the probiotic consortia of Akkermansia muciniphila (A. muciniphila) that provided better relief effect of colitis in short term intervention. We examined the effects of probiotics consortia on the intestinal flora of DSS-induced colitis in mice.
