Harbour sediment metatranscriptome

Coastal systems, which are one of the most productive ecosystems world-wide, are subject to increased contamination, such as metals and excess organic matter. Accumulation of these contaminants in soft sediments can impact on associated microbial communities. To better manage multiple stressors we need tools that identify causal links between specific stressors and changes in microbial processes that underpin ecosystem services including climate regulation. We used metatranscriptomics to investigate the impact of multiple stressors and their interaction on sediment microbial communities.
