Carbon and Nitrogen Stocks and Fluxes at ORNL FACE, Oak Ridge, Tennessee, 1998-2008

This dataset contains carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) stocks and fluxes from the Oak Ridge National Laboratory Free-Air Carbon Dioxide Enrichment (ORNL FACE) Experiment located in Oak Ridge, TN from 1998-2008. Measurements include net primary production, mass and productivity of dry mass, C, and N in wood, leaf, coarse root, and fine root fractions, leaf trait characteristics, absorbed photosynthetically active radiation, nitrogen use efficiency, nitrogen uptake, and annual litter dry mass, C, and N inputs. These data were used to evaluate the responses of C and N in plants and soils exposed to elevated carbon dioxide (CO2). Norby et al. (2010) used these data to explore how increased productivity under elevated CO2 is limited by nitrogen availability. This dataset contains five data files in comma separate (.csv) format. Additional metadata are provided: five data dictionaries and a file-level metadata file in comma separate (.csv) format.
