Photobacterium ganghwense strain:C2.2 Genome sequencing

Marine bacteria are an important bio-resource having numerous biotechnological features. Here we present the genome of a marine isolate, Photobacterium ganghwense strain C2.2, as part of MARPLAST – Marine Biotechnology project objectives. This isolate has the capacity to produce high amounts of polyhydroxyalkanoates, precursors of fully biodegradable bio-plastics, produced inside bacterial cells in imbalanced C/N conditions. Genomic data revealed the metabolic pathways and key enzymes responsible for PHA accumulation, offering relevant insights for improving global bio-plastics production.
