Exome capture and sequencing of barley lines to fine map, on 7HL, a powdery resistance from a Spanish landrace.. Exome sequencing of barley SBCC097xPlaisant-derived recombinant lines

A high resolution population was developed to study a powdery mildew resistance from Spanish barley landrace SBCC097 on chromosome 7HL. Crossing of SBCC097 and Plaisant, a susceptible genotype, produced both resistant and susceptible recombinant lines. This allowed to identify three recombinant lines with identical genotype but different resistance. The parents and the three recombinant lines were subjected to exome capture and sequencing, which helped to physically locate the resistance within a locus with a cluster of NBS-LRR genes.
