Legionella pneumophila ALAW1 Genome sequencing and assembly. Legionella pneumophila strain:ALAW1

In a broad 2-year study on Legionella in the West Bank, DWDS of eight hospitals have been analyzed with respect to water quality and abundance of L. pneumophila in water and biofilm. In addition, BAL and sputum of pneumonia patients were studied for the presence of L. pneumophila by cultivation, L. pneumophila specific PCR and NPSBT. A broad set of L. pneumophila strains (> 250 ) was retrieved from the DWDS. From patients, however, only one strain was retrieved, i.e. ALAW1 that was considered as acquired in a hospital. Prior treatment by antibiotics was considered as reason for the restricted recovery of clinical strains.
